the lama café

History

The Lama Cafè was born during the first summer of the new millennium out of an initiative of the Botti family, which has long been active in trade, commerce, construction, and food distribution in the Tosco-Emilian Apennines.

The family entrusted Giovanni with the opening and management of this modern and welcoming locale, under whose care it has evolved from a simple bar into a genuine staging point for the even the most fastidious travelers. Over time, it has expanded and now boasts a bed and breakfast with five rooms and a studio loft equipped with every comfort and a breathtaking view of Mount Cimone. In addition, street-level terraces offer a spectacular 360° view of the surrounding Apennines.

Our Wine Bar welcomes travelers and passers-by, and is renowned for the resale of local, national and imported food and wine delicacies long present as a staple in the family's business philosophy.

In fact, the Lama Cafè boasts one of the most well-stocked cellars in the whole area in terms of Tuscan wines and Emilian Lambrusco wines. But, we do not limit ourselves to wine. In our locale, you will find pancetta and Coppa Piacentina, Salame Felino, Mortadella di Bologna, Prosciutto from Parma, Modena and San Daniele, Pata Negra as well as excellent, extranational products that are among the finest cured meats available.

Other commendations concern the sauces and condiments of the Bottega di Amerigo, Cantabrian anchovies, high-grade oils, and much more.

Without a doubt, our stock of the best labels and formats of champagne also warrant mention.

All this is made possible thanks to Giovanni’s frequent travels in France during which, every year, he seeks out the best bottles and best quality-price ratios which may be enjoyed at home or over one of the several delicacies prepared in the cafè by the hand of Mamma Guerina, a true "deus ex macchina" of gastronomy.

Rental Services

To enrich the experience and options available to our visitors, Lama Cafè will begin offering the rental of touring and enduro motorcycles in 2019, as well as modern and sought after E-bikes that are particularly popular among American and Russian travelers.

The Tourist Sights

The location of the Lama Cafè is nothing short of strategic. It is on the renowned highway s.s. 12 running between Abetone and Brennero at km 124 + 00, in the center of the village of Lama Mocogno, a tract well-known among foreign and Italian cyclists and bikers. Its close proximity to skiing further makes Lama Cafè a perfect place to stay.
The Monte Cimone and Abetone ski resorts are both within a short drive.
Also under an hour’s drive by car or motorbike is the pearl of the Tuscan-Emilian Appennines, an alpine lake known as Lago Santo. Alternatively, for those wishing to explore on foot, there is the ancient and picturesque rock formation known as the Devil’s Bridge, or Ponte del Diavolo, which is reachable by way of our beautiful local mountain trails.

The wine and gastronomy trails are another enticing option offered to travelers, as Giovanni prefers to call his guests. Whether by their own means or a Lama Cafè rental, we encourage our guests to visit the multitude of local wineries and dairies and taste the best our territory has to offer.

Giovanni, with his resourceful ways, always has some news in the pipeline that he will not hesitate to share through his Social and Web channels.
